Picnic at Night

31 August 2011

Oh yes, this really was a lovely day. Not only did the weather permit me to pull out my favorite vintage shirt in the history of the world, but it was nice enough to have a wonderful picnic outdoors with my friends Dylana, Kim, and Brian. We decided to skip out on all the fuss of rushing to happy hour and decided to create our own private one. I'd say it beat being in a stuffy restaurant exponentially. Plus, I was with the world's most awesome foodies (aka Brian and Kim) so of course they ensured that we didn't go hungry. We went to this awesome local Philly market place called Di Bruno Brothers and picked up a delicious cheese spread, fresh baguette, and olives and completed it with a bottle of wine. So began our picnic under the stars.

PS- a huge thanks to Kim for taking these photos with her stellar lens. I think I'm in love!

Pre-Fall

29 August 2011

Okay so I will be the first to admit that I did not absolutely have to wear tights yesterday. But did
it make my day just a bit better? Yes of course! It was 60 degrees outside and super duper
windy, so I think it was totally acceptable pulling the tights out for this particular day. It
only made me that much more excited for fall which I can tell is creeping it's way into
Philly! Anyways, I received these booties last week and simply have not been able to take
them off since! I have been pairing them with maxi skirts & jeans (but mainly maxis)
and have found that they go with pretty much everything. It is so nice to have a staple piece
like these.

These photos were taken the morning after the hurricane. Thankfully I was not put into
any danger or harm, but I am keeping those who were in my thoughts. To get through
the weather, Dylana came over for a sleepover where we watched a billion movies,
made Indian food, drank wine, and indulged in yummy yogurt ice cream. Such a fun
night in! After being cooped up in the house for a day, we went to China Town
(the usual) and had yummy Vietnamese food followed by a delicious bubble tea
treat! I got the taro flavor mmm.

Rainy Day Mix Tape

27 August 2011

Sometimes I find it difficult to wear a dress in the summer time without feeling too boring.
There is no possible way of layering in Philly's humidity at times, so I have found myself
straying away from them. However, I am pretty obsessed with this cotton dress and the
pretty flower bouquet print. I don't find myself feeling the need to layer with this dress
and I think it can simply stand out on it's own. I feel so carefree when I put it on! I paired
it with these blush pink wedges, aka my favorite color in the world, and called it a day.

Anyways, I have gotten lovely responses from all my past "mix tapes" that I have put on
this blog and that makes me so very happy! So I will probably be featuring this
a bit more on the blog. If only I could personally make mix cds with hand-drawn
cover art for all of you I would! But that seems simply impossible so for now this will
just have to do- just click on the song and it will take you to the video on YouTube!
Lately Philly has been extremely gloomy and rainy which is my kind
of weather. So here is a bit of chill music from my rainy day playlist:

1.) The Avett Brothers- Swept Away
2.) My Morning Jacket- Golden
3.) Ben Sollee- Prettiest Tree On The Mountain
4.) Simon & Garfunkel- Bleeker Street
5.) DeVotchka- New World
6.) Widowspeak- Gunshy
7.) M.Ward- Undertaker
8.) Owen Pallett- This is The Dream of Win & Regine
9.) Fleet Foxes- Grown Ocean
10.) Wilco- She's a Jar
11.) Asobi Seksu- Thursday

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! If you have to face Hurricane Irene like me,
please be safe!

My Favorite Time of Year

Reminiscing autumn's past and getting inspired about the one yet to come. It's
almost September and a pretty gloomy day so I think I am allowed to get excited.

White Lace

23 August 2011

It really is no lie, boyfriends always have the funniest interpretations of the various
trend us gals are always trying. When I threw this lace cardigan on, Ryan immediately
said it reminded him of Robert Plant which I thought was totally hilarious. Silly boys...
they never understand! Anyways, I am really obsessed with these huge bell sleeves and
I cannot help by nonchalantly touch my hair/use my arms in any way to have fun
with these billowy sleeves. I can see myself layering this cardigan with chunky scarves
and lace up boots in the fall, but for now cut offs and a simple denim shirt works just fine.

Hope you all are having a wonderful Tuesday! It is 60 degrees today and I was able to
pull out my favorite vintage (polyester) blouse. Weather please stay this way for a little while!

Red, Red Wine

21 August 2011

Happy lazy sunday, everyone! My roommate kitty is sleeping like a lazy bum on my lap
as I type this, making it quite difficult to blog. He is just so cute though, and I have a
really hard time refusing his cuddles. Anyways, before I start rambling about how cute
Malcom is (that's his silly name) lets move onto the outfit! I am totally obsessing over this
wine red for fall. It is such a rich and deep color and I just cannot wait to wear this Chicwish
skirt cold, dreary day with it popping against a grey sky. I paired it with this beautiful bouquet
necklace I got from the lovely folks over at Stitched & Adorned (wonderful new shop I
suggest you all check out). I am always drawn to lockets, especially floral lockets. Also
I am pretty excited to show you all these babies from SHOP Akira. Once again I am just
dreaming of fall, and excited to pair them with chunky sweaters, flowy dresses, and opaque
tights. Wow, I am way too focused on the change of the season!

Well I hope you all enjoy your Sunday. Mine is definitely going to be full of relaxation.

Help Fight Breast Cancer!

19 August 2011

There's som
ething special about these boots. Not only are they brand new from
Nine West's Fall 2011 collection, but they have been made in efforts to fight breast
cancer! Nine West and Council of Fashion Designers of America are partnering
up to fight breast cancer. Top models will walk the runways this
Spring sporting this limited edition boot and Nine West will donate $1 for every
mile that's walked in these boots! The great thing about this is that you can make
a difference too. Starting September sixth, every #runwayrelief retweet will
raise $1 to the cause. I am so happy I can be a part of this and I will post another
reminder about it when the fundraiser begins!

Also, I am just tickled that we have been having some cooler days here in
Philly. Jean jackets are the perfect piece for transitioning into fall. Same
goes for light scarves for a little bit of layering.
